Privacy
- Effective from: 24 October 2026
- Publisher of the app: Dennis Siersma
Pensa is made by Dennis Siersma ("I"). Pensa is designed to keep your thoughts on your own device. This policy explains what happens to your data.
What stays on your device
- Recordings, transcripts and enrichment. Your audio is stored on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Speech recognition and text clean-up (title, tags, type) run entirely on the device, using the operating system's built-in models. Nothing is sent to me or to third parties for this.
- The Think Room and all other features work on your device. No account is needed.
- Backups. The daily backup (a ZIP file) goes to your own iCloud Drive, or to local Files if iCloud is off. I have no access to it. Your iPhone's iCloud backup is also governed by your own Apple account.
- Sending to other apps. When you send an idea to Reminders, Microsoft To Do, Things or another app, it goes directly from Pensa to that app on your device. What that app does with it falls under that app's policy.
Pensa contains no ads, no analytics and no tracking. I do not sell or share data.
What leaves your device if you turn on sync
Sync between your devices is off by default. If you turn it on (Settings › Sync between devices, Sign in with Apple), the following applies.
- What is sent: the text layers of your ideas (verbatim and clean text, title, tags), their metadata (such as date, type, deadline, the name of a person for a note about someone, and your answers in the Think Room) and an anonymous user ID that Apple creates for Pensa. Your name and email address are not requested. Audio is never synced.
- Where it is stored: in a database at Supabase, in a data centre in the EU, and through the sync service PowerSync. Both process the data only to make sync work. The connection is encrypted (TLS).
- Who can access it: only you, with your own account. The database is isolated per user.
- Legal basis: your consent, by turning sync on.
- How long: until you stop. *Sign out* stops syncing. *Delete account and server data* in the settings permanently erases your account and all your data on the server. The data on your device stays.
Beta through TestFlight
If you test Pensa through TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and feedback you choose to send with me, under TestFlight's terms. Pensa itself contains no crash or analytics software.
If you email me
If you email for support, I receive your email address and what you write. I use it only to answer your question.
Your rights
You can always view, edit, export and delete the data on your device yourself. For data on the server (only if you use sync), you can erase it from within the app, or contact me for access or correction. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
